bdelloid species with frontal eyespots
Most bdelloid rotifers with frontal eyespots belong to the genus Rotaria, but there are also a few species from other genera: Adineta and Habrotrocha. Depending on the orientation of the rostrum the frontal eyespots of Rotaria sometimes seem to be cerebral eyespots, located on the trunk (see 3rd image of Rotaria rotatoria below), but this is not the case. Some species in the genus Rotaria do not have eyespots. These are also listed on this page in a separate section.
